Process

From first consultation to follow-up

  1. Initial enquiry

Your concern and expectations are discussed. A first orientation can be given by phone or WhatsApp; any decision follows an in-person examination.

  2. Examination and planning

The nose is assessed both externally and endoscopically, and the airway is examined separately. Photographs are used to discuss the plan together.

  3. Surgery

The procedure is scheduled after the anaesthetic assessment and the necessary tests. Its scope and the surgical technique are agreed beforehand.

  4. Follow-up

After the splint and sutures are removed, follow-up visits are spread over several months. Healing is gradual and the result settles over time.

Common questions

What patients ask most often

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does rhinoplasty take?

The operation generally takes 2–3 hours. The duration depends on whether the septum is treated, whether grafts are used and whether there has been previous surgery. In revision cases it can take longer.

When can I return to work after surgery?

The splint and sutures are usually removed on day 6 or 7. Most patients in desk-based work return within 7–10 days. Because bruising and swelling vary between individuals, this period can differ.

Is packing used during the operation?

The old-style packs that were uncomfortable to remove are no longer used routinely. Where packing is needed, silicone splints with a breathing channel are preferred and are usually removed within a few days.

When will I see the final result?

You see a first impression when the splint comes off, but that is not the final shape. Most swelling resolves over the first months; the tip is the slowest area to refine. In patients with thicker skin the final shape can take more than a year.

Can rhinoplasty and a breathing problem be treated together?

Yes. A deviated septum or enlarged turbinates can be corrected in the same session; this is called septorhinoplasty. Aesthetic planning is never done before the source of the obstruction has been established at examination.

Will there be a visible scar?

In the closed technique all incisions are inside the nose and no external scar remains. In the open technique a small incision is made in the skin between the nostrils; it fades over time and is not noticeable from a normal distance in most patients.
